Motions without Notice – July 31 2014

That this House congratulates Team South Africa on winning 31 medals at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow to date. These include 10 gold, 10 silver and 11 bronze medals. We wish them continued success for the rest of the Games.

That this house congratulates Ephraim Shakes Mashaba on his appointment as the new Bafana Bafana Coach and we urge club coaches to timeously release players for the team to bring Bafana back to their former glory.

That this House commends Jacques “King” Kallis’ on his stellar career as a Proteas Cricket Player and arguably on one of the greatest cricket players and definite all-rounders of our era. “King Kallis” you were a pleasure to watch. You will be dearly missed.

That the House congratulates the “ultra-extreme ice swimmer”, Ryan Stramrood, from Cape Town for swimming about 4km across the Bering Strait from the Big Diomede Island in Russia to Little Diomede Island in the US in 50 minutes in temperatures varying around 3.2 degrees – wearing only a Speedo.
